Sad to say this, but I think it will be Denise and Ian. At this stage in the series, all the dancers deserve to do well, but someone has to go, and I think it will be them.
I have to say that despite Denise and Ian's performance tonight I still think they will go out of the competition next week. For all Denise has the talent to pull off complicated dance routines like tonight's she doesn't come across well - in terms of temperament and personality - on camera. I think all of the remaining celebrities in the competition (except Denise!) come across as generally quite lively and engaging characters; the viewing public feels an empathy with them. I suppose to be fair the others are 'performers' accustomed to working a crowd but Denise's determination and drive (both of which made her a world-class athlete) work against her on camera as she comes across as hard-faced and lacking the warmth of her fellow competitors. My respect for Julian Clary has gone through the roof since he started on SCD2! That a confirmed terpsichorophobe should pull off some of the moves he does is a wonder to behold! And his bitching with Craig Revell Horwood is something else! Who will ever forget "You wouldn't know a paso doble if you sat on one!" And Aled Jones losing 13 pounds since starting the competition! Will he be bringing out a 'SCD2 Fat-busting video' once the competition is over?! And last but not least we come to my favourite: Jill Halfpenny... (sighs longingly and stares into space recalling her awkward 'heel trapped in the hem' moment during the jive... And being the old pro that she is we never suspected a thing! Trust Claudia to bring it to our attention!) I was staggered by Jill's presence on the dancefloor and by her ability. Each week she apears to be having a tough - if enjoyable! - time with Darren in practice and rehearsal and every week she turns in a tiptop performance on the night! But I don't want to put the mockers on her and Darren so I am going to go away and shut up now! Bet you can't guess who I'll be voting for next week! Clue: my ID could very well give it away...!
You know I think it will be Denise and Ian...and I think that's a tad unfair. Denise is really good but I think her competitve streak is a turn-off for some. Ian's great too...I like Julian but if I think if we were to be fair he should leave next week (although I've been a fan of his for the best part of 20 years!)
I love Julians character but I feel that he is the weakest dancer out of the remaining couples, so I think that he should go next week. I love watching Denise and Jill dance each week, I think they're fantastic so I would be upset if either of them went out next week.
Hello. I'm new but have been looking in at the site for a while. Very big fan of Aled and lillia, they are just magic and her routines are fantastic. I think it may be Denise and Ian, she's not popular with the public and I'd say she had the lowest public vote on Saturday. She can certainly dance and is better that Aled and certainly than Julian who sort of poses not dances, but he's getting judge's marks for his improvement. There was much more than a 1 point difference between Aled and Julian on Saturday. In fact I'd say A and L deserved over 60. On merit Julian should go, but I think it will be Denise after she finished so low down after a sparkling display.
On Dancing ability alone it should be Julianand Erin, yes he has improved but the other 3 are better dancers, it is after all a dance competition, even the judges are rating them the lowest of the 4 couples. I am sure Denise and Ian were only in the bottom 2 last night because people expected them to go through because of their high scores, so voted for others instead.
D & I will go next week. They must have had the lowest public vote on Saturday to be in the bottom two overall. That will mean a final with two out of three celebrity men - well done!
I think they are only still there because she can dance and dance well, there's no question about that, so they get high scores. I just don't think people like her, however it also has to do with the fact that the others all may have a bigger fan base to start off with and also that maybe we like to see someone who makes the odd mistake yet still is going great guns, who has improved over the weeks, and shows a bit of humility now and again!! Perhaps someone who started with no ability and has found moe than just a little ! such as Aled. Julian still can't dance but can now pose beautifully whilst Erin dances round him, which is what Chris did last year to some extent.
i thinnk she is waaaaaaaaaaaytoo competitive and far too confident!! iknnow this is a good point, but she believes she's gonnna win, whereas the others say, we just donnt know how the vots will go!! iann is fab, so is denise, but saying what she did on sat completely put me off!!
Denise and Ian - thought we might be in for a shocker yesterday on the public vote as I would think Roger would be more popular with the viewers. think denise and ian only survived because of the judges vote.
ok so rogers dancing isnt great and technically denise is a lot better but its comments from denise "we ought to be in the final" (or something similarly superior as per last nights training) that dont endear. Being competitive and wanting to win is one thing but assuming that you are so great that the final is forgone conclusion is another.
julian and erin might squeak it on public vote and stay in (hope they do!) because julian has improved so much
i think it could be denise and ian this week as denise has been good from the start but we have seen an improvement in julian (thanks to erin) since week 1
I have to say that within the last couple of weeks, I've begun to like Denise again. The comments put me off at the beginning and I kind of went off her but, she certainly can dance. Technically speaking, it should probably be Julian leaving next week, but he has improved a great deal and endears himself to the public with his witty comments and general personality. I actually thought that Denise was better this week than Jill, especially in the Cha Cha Cha. There was definitely a story going on there with Uptown Girl (loving the upmarket headscarf!)

i agree with you halfpenny hustler. i like denise and respect her as an athlete and competitor but i haven't warmed to her in this program and think the reason you gave is spot on.
i don't watch eastenders and have never seen jill in it so it's not as if i'm a fan of hers in the first place, but i'm beginning to really like her because watching her and darren dance is quite something. i actually really like darren's choreography - it's stylish and professional and jill executes the moves brilliantly to match his brilliance.
I think there's a danger we may be in for a shock and it may be Aled or Jill who will be out this week. Its all to do with the adding of the public vote - if Denise and Ian get the highest judges score, and Julian and Erin get the highest public score, it could leave one of the other couples with the lowest points. I hope this won't happen, but it's gonna be a bit tense on Saturday!

Yep, exactly what I was thinking! We all seem to think that it's between Denise and Julian as to who will go, but there's nothing like a shock eviction to shake things up!
I think that if someone had taken Denise to one side at some stage and pointed out that some of her comments might work against her maybe things would be very different in the competition by now. On the other hand what we would have had by now would have been an unrealistic impression of Denise and what makes her tick. The fact that she is ordinarily in 'a team of one' and is totally self-reliant made things doubly difficult for her coming in SCD2. It must be very hard for her to constantly have to work with someone else when mentally (and ordinarily) she is competing with herself and is reliant on her inner resources to get her through. I do have a lot of sympathy for her. It must have been galling in the extreme last Saturday night to turn in two blazing performances and still be in the bottom two. But I suppose if the viewing public don't relate to you by this stage it may well be too late in the series for her or Ian to do anything about it. It would make for a more exciting final if she and Ian were to stay in the competition on Saturday night but given the personalities she's competing against I can't really see it happening. It could if Roger Black's votes go her way but I suspect Aled has already accounted for those!
I'm new to the forum but have been following the board avidly. I'd like to say my two-penny worth...
It's a bit sad that majority of the forum wanted Denise to leave next. I think she and Ian are terrific. They are fantastic to watch and they are both professional in their training output and attitude. Denise seem to rub some people the wrong way because she is so focused in whatever she does, (so we imagined it's showing up our own failings and weaknesses). She is never rude, she talks tough because she is being tough with herself. Like Roger said, as atheletes in their calibre, they have sufferred more than their fair share of failures ~ they are at the top of their profession not by talent alone but through blood, sweat and tears.
Denise's focus and attitude (and Ian's, and Brendan's and all the professionals) should be applauded and not derided.
Otherwise we'd all have to wait another 3 decades before we get our own Wimbledon champion!!!!!!
I wanted to reply to letrightbedone because after a couple of weeks of looking at these boards she has summed it up for me. I think Darren is a really good coreorgrapher. Really I do. He has said on several occasions that he challenges Jill every week. She works bloody hard to get it right. Week in week out. If people find it dull that she is never criticised that really is down more to the effort she has made as a talented amateur and what she is putting into this. I personally think Aled is doing a fantastic job as a male celeb who is constantly attempting to lead...and his own musical abilility clearly helps him. But Jill is still working bloody hard!
